How Palm Oil is Made
Palm oil production begins with harvesting the fruit from oil palm trees. The fruit is then sterilized and threshed to separate the oil-rich palm kernels from the rest of the fruit. The kernels are crushed to extract crude palm oil (CPO). This crude oil is then refined, bleached, and deodorized to produce refined palm oil, suitable for consumption and industrial use. The process includes several stages of cleaning, filtering, and treating to remove impurities and ensure the oil meets quality standards. Sustainable practices and certifications are increasingly important in the production process to minimize environmental impact.
